Peter Wren, Chief Executive Officer of English Speaking Board, has been nominated for a top industry award.
Peter has been shortlisted for the Individual Contribution of the Year Award by the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB). Four finalists have been selected and the winner will be announced at the FAB Conference on 22 October 2015.
Prior to joining ESB in June 2013, Peter was CEO of four other awarding organisations including EMD Qualifications, VTCT, and CENTRA. He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be nominated for this award, especially as this is the first time FAB has held an annual awards’ ceremony. I feel very honoured that the independent panel of judges has recognised me for my work, not just over the last year but, over 27 years in the industry.”
FAB’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Wright said: “All entries were of an extremely high standard and worthy of inclusion in the shortlist. The FAB Awards reflect on all that is positive about awarding organisations and recognise the excellent people who make it work.”
The four finalists in each category were selected by a panel of judges which included former FAB CEO Jill Lanning, AELP CEO Stewart Segal, CEO of College Development Network (CDN) Joe Wilson and Principal of Exeter College Richard Atkins.
Richard, who is also President of the Association of Colleges (AoC) for 2014/15, said: “Qualifications are critically important for learners, employers and colleges and the role of awarding bodies is fundamental to the design and development of qualifications and to the quality of service that colleges provide. In my experience competition and awards events drive up standards and recognise excellence, and I am sure that these awards will do that for awarding bodies."
