ESB Entry Level Award in Graded Examinations in Speech (Entry 3) (EAL 1-B1) is for learners who speak English as an additional language.The graded speech qualifications (EAL) are mapped to the Common European Framework for Languages. The aim of the EAL series of programmes (Entry 1- Entry 3) is to provide a focus and framework for progressive mastery of Spoken English communication in English as an Additional Language. Our assessment is a presentation delivered in a group context and promotes interaction with others.
Learners are asked to plan and present a 2-3 minute talk that evidences research and personal experience. They are further asked to do a talk with visual aids in front of a small group about a topic of their choice.Close
Candidates are asked to personally choose a poem then following a short introduction and persuasive reason for choice, recite it from memory.Close
Candidates are asked to read aloud from their favourite book or publication making sure it is appropriate for their audience and presented enthusiastically. They are further asked to introduce the piece giving title and author, and clarifying the context of the work to arouse interest from the audience.Close
Listen actively, respond to questions on your own sections and contribute positively to group discussions. They are further required to ask at least two questions of others work and listen attentively.Close
