Meet our 2019 Young Speakers of the Year!

English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. is delighted to announce the winners of its 2019 Young Speakers of the Year.

From 12,000 entrants of ESB assessments last year, ten have been selected as our 2019 Young Speakers of the Year, in recognition of their outstanding oracy skills.

Each year, a selection of exceptional Speech learners from schools all around the UK are nominated by our assessors for this accolade.

The 2019 Young Speakers of the Year are:-

  • Ayesha Ahmed, Bolton School
  • Ellie-Rose Heimans, James Allen Preparatory School, London
  • Flora Low, St. Francis School, Wiltshire
  • Freddie Van Daalen, Magdalene House Preparatory School (Wisbech Grammar), Cambridgeshire
  • Maddie Exley, Wilmslow Preparatory School
  • Tom Lewis, Runnymede St Edwards School, Liverpool
  • Jimmy Shixiang Wang, Sherborne International, Dorset (currently St Edward’s School, Surrey

In addition to our Young Speakers, ESB also recognises and encourages the potential of all learners, with its ‘Spirit of ESB awards’. These prestigious awards recognise learners who have overcome obstacles to show great promise in their assessments.

Our award winners have been invited to attend our Young Speakers of the Year Showcase being held on Saturday, 16th November at Aintree Racecourse, ‘The Home of Champions’.

At their presentation ceremony, watched by their families, teachers, ESB Trustees, ESB staff and Assessors, the winners will each perform part of their outstanding assessment including poems, book readings and presentations.

All learners nominated as ESB Young Speakers will receive a Highly Commended Certificate in recognition of their remarkable achievement.

Chief Executive, Tina Renshaw says, ‘Congratulations to all our Young Speakers and Spirits this year! We enjoyed reviewing all the magnificent learners who were nominated. This is a tremendous achievement and I can’t wait to meet the Speakers and see them in action at our Showcase!’
