Accessibility
ESB International recognises the need for its website to be accessible to all. We have implemented a number of features to make this website easy to use, especially for users with disabilities.
This website aims to conform to Level A standard of the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. It also includes many features found in AA sites such as colour considerations and easily resizable fonts. We will continue to make improvements and make sure this website conforms to these guidelines.
This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for visual layout. If your browser supports it, style sheets can be disabled or over-written to customise the appearance of the website, to your preference.
Images are used for largely illustrative purposes, with important information always in plain text or accessible PDF. There are several reoccurring instances of icons that when clicked will download a file such as policy or resource. In these instances, icons contain unique alternative descriptions to assist screen readers in identifying which file can be downloaded when the icon is clicked.
You can change the font size of each page to your preference through the browser.
Edge: select View, then Text Size, and then your preferred size.
Firefox: press CTRL + to increase font size and CTRL – to decrease. CTRL 0 will reset sizes to default.
Forms have been created using Microsoft Forms to ensure safe handling of data and compatibility with assistive technologies.
Tables are used to display tabular data. Tables are not used for general site layout. This means our tables are being used in a correct and meaningful manner.
The site has been designed to easily legible through its colour choices. Pages headers that adopt a dark blue background (hex code #012651) and white text, aiding page structure and readability. Links are a strong red colour (hex code #ed2424) in contrast to regular text.
We have worked hard to ensure that all links to external sources are meaningful, with most adopting a title attribute to explain the links purpose. Internal links within the ESB International are used to assist with general navigation. We regularly audit our external links but there may be an occasion where a link stops working. If you encounter a broken link, or are directed to a location that is unexpected, please email us explaining your issue and we will work to correct it immediately.
JavaScript is used in limited instances for specific and meaningful functions. All pages are still accessible and usable if JavaScript is unavailable or disabled by your browser.
