To maintain our reputation for providing high quality, flexible assessments around the UK and internationally, we are seeking to engage new Oracy Assessors. Our assessors come from all walks of life but they share a common goal: to bring out the very best in every learner. From the moment an assessor meets our learners, they offer support and encouragement, showing empathy for each individual’s needs. Their role is central to the ESB International experience. All assessors are trained, standardised and moderated each year, to make sure that their marking is consistent and that they uphold ESB International’s core values in every session. We provide a supportive assessor community, led by a Senior Assessor.
As our centres book assessments when they need them, assessments take place throughout the usual academic year however our international centres book according to their academic cycles and time zones. Usually we experience peak periods of assessing before Easter (whenever Easter occurs in the year) and across the months of May, June and July. You must be willing to travel within the UK and Northern Ireland, with overnight stays in some circumstances.
This engagement is offered on a self-employed basis.
You should have:
- A minimum of 3 years recent substantial teaching experience, have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DET, or equivalent’ or have QTS) or relevant degree
- A current Basic Disclosure/DBS Clearance (or obtain after selection)
- Professional Indemnity Insurance (or obtain after selection)
The selection process is long listing via Teams meeting interview and, if shortlisted, a further selection day.

Language (ESOL Skills for Life) Assessor

All assessors are trained, standardised and moderated each year, to make sure that their marking is consistent and that they uphold ESB International’s core values in every session. ESOL Skills for Life Marker

Are you an ESOL Skills for Life tutor looking for a new opportunity and have at least two years ESOL Skills for Life teaching experience in the last 5 years?
English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. (ESB International) is recruiting for Markers and Moderators of our ESOL Skills for Life writing qualifications at levels Entry 1 to Level 2. We offer an attractive level of pay for suitable candidates. Please only apply if you have the required ESOL teaching experience as candidates must have this to progress to interview stage.
Successful candidates must live within approximately 20 miles of our offices at 9 Hattersley Court, Burscough Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 2AY. Markers pick up and return marked scripts to the offices.

Are you an ESOL International teacher/tutor looking for a new opportunity and have at least two years ESOL Skills for Life teaching experience in the last 5 years?
English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. (ESB International) is recruiting for Markers of our ESOL International writing qualifications at levels A1 to C2. We offer an attractive level of pay for suitable candidates. Please only apply if you have the required ESOL teaching experience as candidates must have this to progress to interview stage.
Successful candidates must live within 1 hour’s commute of our offices in Ormskirk at 9 Hattersley Court, Burscough Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 2AY.
You will be required during our peak business periods in the months of January and June-July. Markers will be required to attend marking weekend sessions (1 weekend in January and 2 marking weekends in June/July) at our Ormskirk offices. Additionally, Markers are asked to pick up and return marked scripts to the offices.
